Sustainability
Shaw’s is dedicated to environmental stewardship and ethical sourcing. We collaborate closely with our supply chain partners to develop solutions to meet the ever-increasing demand for globally responsible seafood, raw material and packaging. Shaw’s assures the viability and sustainability of the wild fish populations it purchases, as well as the environmental impact and management effectiveness. Shaw sources mainly wild-caught seafood from suppliers promoted by the National Fisheries Institute or equivalent that have fishery improvement plans currently in place or better. Some of our seafood is Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified. MSC is the world’s leading certification body for sustainable, wild-caught seafood. We support the nonprofit international organization’s goal “to transform the world’s seafood markets and promote sustainable seafood practices.” If farm raised seafood is used, then we only use BAP 2 star or higher rated suppliers. Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification standards require companies to comprehensively address environmental and social responsibility, animal welfare, food safety, and traceability throughout their operations. Shaw also participates in several other sustainability initiatives, including How2Recycle, an on-pack labeling system that teaches consumers how to recycle their packaging more effectively; Gigaton Project, a greenhouse gas reduction initiative; Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil; and our own Recycle Score Card.

Shaw Family Seafood Co. is committed to sustainability and responsible sourcing.
We work closely with our supply chain partners to embrace strategies that support the ever-growing need for responsible seafood processing and harvesting. Our Family ensures the viability and sustainability of wild fish stocks they purchase, the environmental impact, and how effectively the fishery is managed.
